About This Accommodation
Located in northern Queensland, Silky Oaks Lodge is the perfect add on to the Great Barrier Reef. Just over an hour’s drive from Cairns, it offers the secluded nature experience that can be harder to find in Cairns. Silky Oaks is a riverfont rainforest lodge with 50 individual treehouses scattered throughout the premises. Although it holds a fair amount of guests, it’s arranged in such a way that you are free to wander off and take a dip in a pristine waterhole in complete privacy.
The luxury eco-lodge’s treehouses and common areas are spacious and beautifully, yet simply decorated. We really appreciate the private verandahs with hammocks and Jacuzzis that face the river. We usually recommend one of the lower numbered treehouses as they are closer to the main area and there are a few that are quite far away. The Healing Waters Spa should not be missed. We really enjoy the food, wine and great service at Silky Oaks.
There are a number of activities available for exploring Mossman and Daintree National Park. Included in the rate are self-guided walks, guided walks, bike riding, canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling, tennis and yoga. For an additional fee, you can go on excursions to the Great Barrier Reef or fishing, hot air ballooning, quad biking or enjoy a private picnic in an area only accessible via helicopter. You can also day trip to Mossman Gorge or Cape Tribulation. There are so many things to do and ways to experience the Mossman River and the rainforest. We relish the freedom. It’s such a peaceful and serene wilderness experience that can be tailored to your specific level of activity.
In addition to a road transfer from Cairns, Silky Oaks is also accessible via private charter that lands 15-minutes from the lodge.
Note: breakfast is included in the rate, but lunches and dinners are not, so guests should be prepared to pay at the end of their stay.
