Combine Tanzania’s highlights with visits to people and areas rarely visited on this exciting 12-night safari. Led by private guide extraordinaire George Mavroudis, this journey features mobile tented camps and luxury lodges. It is capped at 12 participants.
Begin with an overnight at Legendary Lodge in Arusha before spending three nights in Tarangire National Park. Explore the area’s wild panoramas of open acacia woodland and baobab-studded savannah. The area is host to some of the largest herds of elephant and buffalo in all of northern Tanzania.
Your next stop is Manyara Ranch, a beautiful 44,000 acre tract of land that has been put aside for conservation. It is a uniquely important corridor for wildlife moving between Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks.
Spend the following three nights exploring Lake Eyasi and the Yaida Escarpment. A wilderness area traveled by few, this is home to some of the last remaining Bushmen and one of the most traditional tribes in all of Africa, the waHadzabe. From your base at Kisima Ngeda, search for striped hyena, bushbuck, reedbuck, and more on guided bush walks or canoe along the water. George will introduce you to the Niloic Datooga people (known as the Ma'ngati by the Maasai) who migrated here from Sudan and Ethiopia approximately 1,500 years ago. Spend a special night fly-camping along the Yaida Escarpment where you will meet and observe the click-speaking waHadzabe people, whose traditions have remained largely unchanged for thousands of years. Spend the evening and next morning gaining a deeper understanding of their life here, and perhaps even try your hand at their hunting and gathering techniques.
Your last three nights will be in the rolling plains of the Serengeti. “Serengeti” in the Masai language means endless plains and truly, the Serengeti has vast and spectacular horizons. Spend your days game-viewing from 4x4 vehicles in one of the most robust wildlife sanctuaries on the planet, known especially for wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and lion.
