Africa’s great migration is one of the world’s best known wildlife spectacles. Millions of animals move across the endless Serengeti Plains following the rains, seeking lush green pastures on which to feed. The Serengeti’s resident wildlife never fails to impress, but when the migration passes through, the magic is intensified! Travelers come from around the world to see this incredible phenomenon, as do photographers. We are excited to offer a special Great Migration Photographic Safari, designed to position you for the best chance to capture exciting wildlife images, including the potential for river crossings. Your game drives will take place in specially modified vehicles with features such as drop-down sides allowing for low-angle photographs, 360º swivel seats, bean bags and more.
You will visit the Serengeti ecosystem, which extends from Tanzania up into Kenya’s Masai Mara, on this safari. From Nairobi, you will fly to the Masai Mara where you will be based at Rekero Camp. This camp is perched strategically above the Talek River, one of the rivers that the wildebeest and zebra must cross in their perpetual movement. It’s the perfect location to try to see a river crossing. It’s a photographer’s dream - one of the most dramatic scenes imaginable for the migration! Three nights in this area thick with wildlife will allow you to digitally capture the African wildlife you’ve always dreamed of seeing.
You will then fly to Tanzania to explore the Northern Serengeti. Here you will double your chances to photograph the migration during your 3-night stay at the award-winning Sayari Camp. Sayari gives you easy access to the Mara River and multiple river crossing points in Serengeti National Park. The game viewing is excellent, as is the chance to take unforgettable images. In addition to twice-daily game drives, guided walking safaris are available with the opportunity for extraordinary wildlife encounters.
For those wishing for a few more nights on safari, you can fly to the newly renovated Namiri Plains Camp in Eastern Serengeti. This area was closed to tourists for 20 years to allow the cheetah population to rebound. Today, it is big-cat territory where cheetah roam the area in pursuit of prey, and lion and leopard hunt undisturbed. The chance to photograph apex predators is unrivaled in this region - it’s the perfect way to cap off this special photographic safari!
