Botswana is one of the great safari destinations in Africa. More than one-third of the country is comprised of national parks and reserves that are home to some of the highest concentrations of big game on the continent.

Enjoy a classic Botswana safari experience on this eight-day journey. Your safari begins in the Chobe Game Reserve, well known for hosting Africa’s largest concentration of elephant. In addition to the elephants, wild dog, lion and rare antelope species such as roan and sable can be seen in the reserve. You will spend two nights at Chobe Game Lodge from where you can enjoy land and water game viewing activities. During your stay, we suggest taking the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at the innovative eco-friendly initiatives the lodge has implemented.

Next, you will fly to Savute in the southwest corner of Chobe National Park. The Savute Channel is found here, which has flowed unpredictably throughout history mystifying locals and geologists alike. In recent history, after being dry for nearly 30 years, the channel started flowing again in 2008, welcoming hippo, elephant and myriad bird species. You will spend two nights at Savute Safari Lodge, where you will see the area’s wildlife while on game drives or from the comfort of your chalet. We suggest an excursion to see the fascinating ancient San rock paintings in the Gubatsa Hills. We also love to visit this area during the zebra migration - ask a Journey Specialist about timing for this special wildlife phenomenon.

From Savute you will fly to the Moremi Game Reserve. From your base at Camp Moremi, you will explore the reserve on game drives and motorized boating safaris. Lion, leopard, elephant and abundant plains game are highlights, as is the area’s prolific birdlife, including the chance to see rare species such as the beautiful Pel’s fishing owl. The Okavango Delta is known for its gorgeous landscapes and prolific wildlife - you will experience it in all its glory during your three-night stay.
