To say that Dr. Laurie Marker is obsessed with cheetahs would be an understatement. Dr. Marker has been working with cheetahs since 1974. She is the Founder and Executive Director of The Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), the longest-running cheetah conservation program in the world.
To say that Extraordinary Journeys is obsessed with Namibia would be an understatement. When you’re there, you feel like you’re on the moon! There’s nothing anywhere on the globe that offers the immense diversity of ancient history, landscapes, incredible flora and fauna, all mixed with ever-changing colors as the sun moves shadows across the land. A safe and people-friendly country, tailored safari affords you the opportunity to experience much of the best of magnificent and varied Namibia.
With so many fabulous places to see and the chance to combine two obsessions, it was too hard to pick just one itinerary… so we picked two: a 7-day private guided safari and 11-day fly-in safari. Both itineraries center on the opening of CCF’s brand new Cheetah View Lodge as well as close encounters with cheetahs including stretching their legs on CCF’s lure course, feeding and meeting with Ambassador Cheetahs Kaijay, Peter, Senay and Tiger Lily and sundowners while cheetahs walk amongst you.
The 7-day private guided safari features travel with one of Namibia’s best known naturalist guides beginning with two nights at world-renowned CCF in Otjiwarongo. From CCF, continue to Ongava Lodge in Etosha National Park for exciting game drives. Here you will have the opportunity to visit an authentic and remote Himba settlement. Finally, finish up at Desert Rhino Camp in the Palmwag concession, where you track for the endangered black rhino in conjunction with Save the Rhino Trust.
