Ilala Lodge is a 32-bedroom hotel that’s ideally situated in Victoria Falls. Only a 20-minute walk to the Falls and 5 minutes from the shops and restaurants in town, this is the perfect spot if you’re staying in Victoria Falls for one night and are looking at a lower price point than Victoria Falls Hotel. If you’re planning on staying for 2+ nights, we would recommend somewhere with nicer rooms and an amazing view, like Gorges Lodge.

We feel as if Ilala Lodge’s bedrooms have been slightly out of date, but the location makes it a great option. You can see the mist coming off the Falls from your terrace (we recommend requesting a room on the second floor) and the gardens and common areas are lovely and well-manicured and can often find the resident warthogs grazing. The food here is also excellent; the breakfast buffet is of very high quality and the Palms Restaurant is award-winning.

In this area you can do all sorts of activities from a relaxing canoe ride on the river to a peaceful sunset cruise, or get your heart racing with an exciting elephant back experience or bungee jumping! And if you want to see the falls from an incredibly breathtaking perspective, try a microlight or helicopter ride.

We like Ilala for its proximity to the Falls, it’s lovely public spaces, outstanding food, and the ease in which you can book activities on-site.
