Nsefu Camp

South Luangwa’s Nsefu Camp is part of the Robin Pope Safari collection and is the oldest camp in Zambia, dating back to the 1950’s. Even after being upgraded and refurbished, the central areas have kept their traditional charm and the basic structure has remained the same.

The huts are simple and stylish with outdoor bathrooms and pleasant décor. However, we find they are a bit too close to the neighbors so we would not particularly recommend it for our honeymooners. Conversely, it’s great for families as rooms are close together.

We love the setting. The views from the rooms and throughout the camp are dramatic, taking into account river frontage, floodplains, water hole, and prolific wildlife. On our last day we saw a herd of 400 buffalos drinking in front of the camp!

The knowledgeable guiding and good game is also very impressive. During drives and walks, you will see plenty of lion, hyena, buffalo, porcupine, mongoose, and birds.

Although this northern area of South Luangwa does not have the diversity of animal species that other regions claim, it is remote and exclusive in its own right.
