Mwaleshi Camp

Situated in the faraway North Luangwa, access to Mwaleshi is via a 35-minute flight from Tafika Camp or 45 minutes from Mfuwe.

Mwaleshi sleeps a maximum of 6 people and is open from mid-June to October. This very basic camp is full of character and offers lovely views of the Mwaleshi River, which is shallow enough to serve as your plunge pool, during the midday heat. Low-walled reed and thatch chalets with traditional African décor, decks and simple amenities make for a comfortable, down-to-earth camp that feels and is far from any sign of civilization or other tourists. Mwaleshi is camping with homemade bread baked in an open fire.

Game viewing is mainly on foot as there are limited roads in the region. Expect to see ions, hyenas, herds of wildebeest and buffalo as well as interesting birds.

This is by far one of the more authentic experiences available. We would recommend it to anyone who has already been on safari and craves great guiding in wild Africa.
