About This Accommodation

The Residence is a luxurious and large hotel in southwest Zanzibar, offering excellent service, numerous activities, and all of the amenities and facilities one would ever want. The 66 villas are tastefully decorated and spacious, keeping maximum comfort in mind. Each has its own indoor and outdoor shower, plunge pool, butler service, and bikes for exploring the island. Activities such as snorkeling, deep sea fishing, and boating keep you busy when you’re not soaking up the sun on the beach. Or make use of the Residence’s spa, pool, and tennis courts. The Residence’s central areas are welcomingly fresh, airy, and tropical with lovely sea views and a stunning beach. Excellent meals include beach and themed dinners with music or fine-dining in the hotel. Staff and service are of a good quality and kids are well-catered for, making this a good option for families.

Although The Residence is lovely, it has that big hotel feel with all of the facilities one would expect from a resort. There is a lack of intimacy and privacy, along with an almost sterile cleanliness. The hotel gardens are not great, which is the down side when staying in the garden view villas. We recommend you book the sea-view villas for more privacy and great ocean vistas. The beach is gorgeous, but the west coast gets a lot of seaweed when the tide is out.
