Tarangire Treetops
Located in a private reserve bordering Tarangire National Park and the Maasai Steppe, Tarangire Treetops offers 20 treehouse suites with private decks and lovely views over the surrounding hills and majestic baobab trees. We love the concept of Tarangire Treetops: sleep in a tree house! Most rooms are structured around a tree, some in heavily forested areas with ramp access. Those that are farther from the main areas can be reached by golf cart, but the path from the central camp is steep. The rooms are well-decorated and spacious with nice touches.
The property also has a pool which is great for cooling off in the heat of the day, and perfectly situated for watching the wildlife visit the waterhole. They also have a variety of safari activities, including day and night game drives and guided walks, but we’ve found the game-viewing to be quite average in the private reserve. We also find the food to be lacking something and the cultural singing and dancing feels a bit commercial, but they’ve made some recent updates and we have heard that the service has greatly improved.
The camp is an hour’s drive from the Tarangire Gate, north of the park. The drive is bumpy and you have to go around the perimeter before you can enter the park, which makes access somewhat inefficient. Although this is a year-round destination, the rainy months are April and May.
