About This Accommodation

Situated in the game-rich Central Serengeti, the Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge is located on a ridge with sweeping views over the plains below. Being one of the first properties to be built in the Serengeti, it is also in one of the best game-viewing areas. With great Big Five game-viewing, the lodge offersgame drives, bush walks, and hot air balloon rides. There are also opportunities to experience Maasai dances.

We find the rooms to be a little old-fashioned and, while the rondavel were cutting-age 40 years ago, they seem a little small today. However, the Serena Hotels are extremely well-managed which makes up for the lack in design.

The big drawback is the large size with 66 rooms in total, 14 being triples. This is a large hotel frequently used by groups. We prefer to avoid large hotels but we find that the low price point and swimming pool make it appealing to some and good for families. Our favorite rooms are 1-21 as the views are magnificent and unobstructed by trees.

"George went the extra mile to provide a short morning game drive for 2 of us who did't go on the balloon."
