About This Accommodation
Situated in Ruaha National Park, Tanzania’s second largest game park, Mwagusi is a remote and rustic tented safari camp. As part of Mwagusi’s green initiative, tents are built using natural materials to minimize the environmental impact and create spaces which are both comfortable and simple. The camp overlooks a dry riverbed and each morning you can search for animal tracks through the sand as you sip your morning coffee. Every evening, guests settle around the campfire together for sundowners.
Game drives with expert rangers ensure you have the opportunity to come face to face with Ruaha’s wildlife. Ruaha is particularly known for their large herds of antelope and elephant as well as wild dog and striped hyena. It is a year-round destination with the first half of the year boasting lush vegetation, and the second half being the better for game-viewing.
Good food and service are part of Mwagusi’s charm and the camp has been dubbed one of Tanzania’s best kept secrets. The property is respected for being both community- and environmentally-conscious. The reserve is more of a remote wildlife experience than other destinations in Tanzania and is probably not the right fit for a first-time safari-goer who is looking for a typical Serengeti-focused circuit. As much as we love Mwagusi, it’s not right for everyone.
