About This Accommodation
Set in Tanzania’s game-rich Ruaha National Park, Ikuka Safari Camp is built directly into an escarpment with beautiful views across the surrounding landscape and Mwagusi River. This is an owner-run, permanent camp with just six tented suites which maximizes the park’s remote privacy. Each suite has thatch and wooden decks with views of their own, and comfortable interiors comprised of white quartz straight from the escarpment itself, and other sustainable and locally-sourced materials. King-size beds, spacious bathrooms, hot running water, and twenty-four hour electricity are just some of the features that make the difference in this camp. Communal areas include a shared lounge, bar, dining space, swimming pool with deck, and a quiet library escape upstairs.
Ruaha is known for its walking, though, and guests can make the most of guided walking safaris plus game drives in open 4WD vehicles, community visits, and even photography lessons.
We loved the owners, and find this camp a great fit for adventure travelers who want a step up from a traditional bush camp. Ikuka is not rustic, but gives you beautiful, more polished luxury and plenty of space to relax and make your own. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, with plenty of activities.
