Okonjima Plains Camp

Okonjima Plains Camp lies in the 22,000-ha Okonjima Private Nature Reserve, providing a welcomed break for those traveling between Windhoek and Etosha National Park. Home of the Africat Foundation, by staying here you are contributing to their conservation efforts while gaining access to excellent guides who will teach you about local wildlife while taking you leopard, cheetah, hyena, and wild dog tracking.

With 18 rooms (12 of which look out onto the savannah below) and a pool, this is a larger and also more modern camp compared to the Okonjima Bush Camp. Everything feels spread out so you can enjoy your privacy, but we find it lacks some of the intimacy and personality that some of the nearby camps include. If you’re looking for the Africat experience, we tend to prefer Okonjima Bush Camp, but we do find that Plains Camp is a better option for families.
