About This Accommodation

Desert Rhino Camp is a luxury mobile camp located in the Palmwag Concession in rugged northern Damaraland. The camp is very remote by vehicle but it's only a 15 minute drive from the airstrip. Dedicated conservationists host a maximum of 12 guests. They teach you all about the area's unique wildlife. Run in conjunction with Save the Rhino Trust, Desert Rhino Camp is one of the few camps where you can track black rhino in Namibia. The main activity is rhino tracking. If you're feeling adventurous, rhino tracking by foot is an exhilarating experience; however, part of the tracking experience involves lengthy drives on bumpy roads. The payoff: encountering rhinos like never before. You can go out again in the afternoon on a game drive or a small walk around camp. Mix things up with a full day outing replete with picnic lunch or opt for a night game drive.

The rooms are well-appointed (under canvas) with en-suite facilities including bucket showers and hot water on request. The common areas are inviting, and the communal dinners offer a nice opportunity to connect with the fabulous staff and make new friends. At night, there is a waterhole at camp that is floodlit, where Spotted Hyena come to drink and a jackal is denning. Then star gaze with a laser pointer.
