Palais Faraj
Palais Faraj, is one of the most luxurious options in town. Opened in 2012, the architecture seamlessly blends the traditional 19th century palace and Moorish influences with a contemporary style and tailor-made furniture. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed featuring wood, stucco and marble lace. Don’t pass up a chance to experience the traditional hammam or receive a relaxing massage at the spa. The restaurant is also excellent – it’s a destination in itself.
You can tour the Batha Museum of traditional Moroccan arts and crafts and the Jnan Sbil (Bou Jeloud Gardens), which recently underwent extensive renovation and replanting. If you’re feeling particularly intellectual, you can visit the University of al-Qarawiyyin, the first university in the world, founded in 857. Then, get your hands dirty by participating in workshops on Moroccan cuisine, natural cosmetics, pottery or Zellige (Moroccan tiles).
