About This Accommodation

At Camp Kalahari in the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans you won’t find large herds of antelope or Big 5 year round, but you will get to experience the areas unique landscape and participate in some fun activities that are unique to the area.

Known for its brown hyena and habituated meerkats, Camp Kalahari offers a desert experience with a difference – includingBushmen walks; a chance to view Chapman’s Baobab, one of the oldest trees in Africa; and the most star laden skies you will ever see.

We love the dry season (June through October) for racing across the salt pans on quad bikes while the rainy season (December through March) brings new grass and a spectacular migration of zebras and wildebeest. The shoulder seasons (April to June and November to December) are can be good for both animals and activities.

We really like this camp because it is half the price of other properties in the area such as Jack’s Camp and San Camp but offers access to all the same unique activities (such as the meerkats and quad biking). This stylish, eclectic property is a great option in the Makgadikgadi.

Camps in this desert area offer a dramatic contrast to the lush Okavango and Linyanti regions and we highly recommend pairing them together.
