About This Accommodation

Kalahari Plains Camp is situated near Deception Valley in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR). This area is famous for its herds of migrating antelope and predators between November/December and April each year.

Elevated to maximize views over the Kalahari and encourage a breeze, the camp has simple but tasteful rooms, star-beds and a swimming pool and runs on solar power. In addition to game-drives, Kalahari Plains Camp offers a San Cultural Experience.

We would absolutely recommend this property during the migration season (November through April) when the game is plentiful and the scenery offers stunning contrast to other areas in Botswana. During the dry season however (May through November), the reduction in game-viewing and limited activities in the CKGR would lead us to recommend the Makgadikgadi area instead. The Makgadikgadi also offers a desert/arid-land experience to pair with the lush vegetation of northern Botswana and activities such as quad-biking and meerkat interactions.

What Our Clients Think

We are still talking about the warmth and kindness of the staff we encountered here – both at the house and in our guide Andy. The setting and accommodation were both beautiful and so well integrated into the natural landscape and plains. Our room/tent was extremely comfortable, beautiful set up overlooking the pan. We loved having access to the pool on hot afternoons and the open and naturally integrated communal dining areas. This camp had the best variety and food options of all of the camps. We liked the communal dining and the inclusion of staff/guides. The staff here will live on in our memories and the kindest, warmest, gracious and beautiful people we have ever met."

Andy's knowledge, experience and ability astounded us each and every day. He took the time to answer our questions both on the safari and on our breaks and his professionalism and wealth of knowledge was complimented with his friendly, warm and easygoing nature. We learned so much just from spending time with him and he inspired a love of the Plains and Botswana that stayed with us our entire safari."

The game viewing was outstanding. The plains area is a special part of Botswana and, in our opinion, a must in addition to the more popular Delta or wetter parts of Botswana. The animals were so unique and the landscape itself is incredibly beautiful. We are so happy that we added this destination to our itinerary."
