This itinerary will take you to on safari to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and the warm waters of Zanzibar. Although we have had honeymooners who have LOVED this trip, its a great option for anyone who want to combine safari and sun.
Day 1 ~ Arusha ~ Arusha Coffee Lodge
The city of Arusha, with a population of around 150,000 people, sits in a pleasant, lush valley, divided by the Naura River near the base of 15,000-ft Mt. Meru. This bustling city, the safari capital of Tanzania, is the economic center of an area with a rich agricultural economy, thanks to the rich volcanic soil.
Your first night in Africa is spent at the Arusha Coffee lodge. This cozy, boutique lodge is built within a coffee plantation just outside Arusha. The lodge’s 30 luxurious suites in 18 cottages are built amongst coffee trees and reflect the colonial style of the original plantation homes, which serve as the reception and dining area. Each cottage is lavishly furnished, with a split area sitting area and a private deck.

Days 2 / 3 ~ Serengeti National Park ~ Olakira Camp
This morning you will head to Arusha Airport for your flight to the Serengeti. Upon your arrival you will be met by your guide and taken to Olakira Camp.
This is exactly where you want to be to see the great wildebeest migration. Serengeti National Park (3,646,500 acres) is the jewel in the crown of Tanzania’s protected areas with over three million large mammals roaming its plains. It lies between Ngorongoro and Lake Victoria and adjoins Kenya's Maasai Mara. The Serengeti has come to symbolize paradise to all, including the local Maasai, who have grazed their cattle on the vast grassy plains for generations. To the Maasai, it is Siringitu – “the place where the stretches on forever."
Olakira Camp is a mobile tented camp right in the middle of prime wildlife areas in the Serengeti and it is the best place to see the great wildebeest migration. This Tented Camp offers the perfect balance between and authentic, intimate bush experience and the luxuries of space, well-equipped bathrooms and large comfortable beds. After a day of intense game drives, the camp is a serene haven to return to. In the evening, the chef invites guests to eat delicious food around the campfire and reflect on the day’s events under the Serengeti star.

Days 4 / 5 ~ Karatu ~ Plantation Lodge
Today you will drive to Plantation Lodge, where you will spend two nights.
Plantation Lodge rests on the soft, red-brown hills amidst the vastness and silence of East Africa at Karatu, a short distance from both Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. Individual cottages meld harmoniously into a flowering garden that attracts colorful birds. The 16 spacious cottages are beautifully decorated and spread over the beautiful flowering garden, some with verandas and direct access to the garden. Individuality is a major feature of Plantation Lodge, where each room has its own style, choice accessories and bouquets of fresh flowers from the garden. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy old fashioned Tanzania hospitality. Your stay will include game viewing activities daily and a visit to the world famous Ngorongoro Crater.

Days 6 / 7 ~ Tarangire National Park ~ Oliver’s Camp
Today you will drive to Oliver's Camp in Tarangire National Park.
Tarangire National Park, at 260 square km, the third largest in Tanzania. Vast numbers of baobab trees capture the eye as you enter Tarangire National Park. The park is spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife species come back to the permanent waters of Tarangire River. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, eland and oryx gather to stay in Tarangire until the onset of the rains when they migrate again to good grazing areas. In addition to the wildlife, Tarangire has over 300 bird species.
Oliver’s Camp has one of the most wonderful settings one could imagine and offers an unparalleled bush experience. From the camp, a much wider eco-system can be overlooked: the Ngorongoro highlands, the Great Rift Valley, the Lame Manyara region and of course Tarangire NP itself. Naturalist guides will not only be able to find you the lion prides, but will also be able to tell you about the different family members of the lion prides, their characters and their habits. Walking safaris are the specialty of the camp, and especially on walking safaris, the depth of knowledge and experience of the camp naturalist guides makes the experience one to never forget. Research outpost from long gone times meets luxury and refined dining.
The camp features 8 beautifully furnished guest tents. Each is decorated with solid wooden furniture, beautiful cloth and gorgeous en suite heated showers that can be taken under the Tarangire sky. Every evening, guests relax or read in the lounge and library tent, or have a drink in front of the fireplace, from which superb views of landscape and sunset can be enjoyed.

Days 8 / 9 /10 / 11~ Zanzibar ~Matlai
Today you will drive back to Kilimanjaro for your flight to the turquoise waters of Zanzibar where you will stay at the elegant Matlai.
Zanzibar is still the best-kept secret in the Indian Ocean with its fascinating history and magnificent beaches. The Assyrians, Sumerians, Egyptians, Phoenicians, Indians, Chinese, Persians, Portuguese, Omani Arabs, Dutch and English have all been here at one time or another. Some, particularly the Shirazi Persians and Omani Arabs, stayed to settle and rule. With this influence, Zanzibar has become predominantly Islamic, with the remaining population made up of Christians, Hindus and Sikhs.
