Ant's Hill Lodge is looking forward to welcoming guests for their Annual Game Census from September 9-16, 2012. Ant's Hill is an exclusive facility nestled within the stunning Waterberg area of South Africa's Limpopo province. It is situated within its own game reserve and provides visitors from all over the world with an unforgettable safari experience. Guests who visit for the census participate in an action packed week of tracking, counting and relocating game!
Arrival: Guest arrive at leisure and do an activity of their choice in the afternoon. Sundowners will be served on the deck at Ant’s Hill for all guests during which a brief presentation will be done by one of our guides, on the census and relocation of the game species and information on nature conservation. This will be followed by dinner.
Day 1: The first day will be spent with the capture of sable. That evening Ant’s brother in law, Dr Philip Calcott will conduct a night sky safari.
Day 2-Day 4: The following 3 mornings will be the game census with guests divided into about 8 groups with 2-3 guests and staff in each group. This will be done in either game drive vehicles or on horseback. The afternoons can be spent doing game drives, walking, riding, mountain biking or just relaxing next to the pool.
Day 5-7: Guests participate in a buffalo capture and relocation on horseback and a giraffe capture and relocation.
On the last evening there will be a wine tasting done with some of South Africa’s finest wines followed by dinner.
This is rough schedule of the activities available during census week and they are of course subject to change due to weather, animal behaviour etc. Prepare yourselves for an action packed week!
