On this amazing trip you will explore all that Kenya has to offer from Samburu to the Masai Mara to Swahili Coast.
Day 1 ~ Nairobi ~ Eka Hotel
Upon your arrival you will spend one night recovering from your flight in the Eka Hotel near Jomo Kenyatta International Airport before beinning your Kenyan adventure in the morning.
Days 2/ 3/ 4 ~ Samburu/ Kalama Conservancy ~ Saruni Samburu Camp
Today you will fly from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the Kalama Conservancy where your guide will be waiting at the airstrip to drive you to Saruni Camp, your safari base for the next three nights.
The Samburu Game Reserve is within the lands of the colorful Samburu people, close relatives of the Maasai, and home to a number of wildlife species rarely found elsewhere in Kenya: Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, and Beisa oryx, all found only north of the equator. This dramatic landscape is blanketed by the hot equatorial sun for most of the year. Relief comes from the cool waters of the Uaso Nyiro ("Brown") River, which rises to the west on the foothills of the Aberdares and which vanishes beyond Samburu in the soggy expanse known as the Lorian swamp. Perched on the top of a hill with an all-round view of Northern Kenya, Saruni Samburu is located in the Kalama Wildlife Conservancy. The recent introduction of water in this area means that the lodge can offer a first-class safari experience in a totally un-spoilt environment, far from the beaten tracks but very close to the wildlife.
It also offers a large swimming pool with dramatic views over Samburu, an area for massage and beauty treatments, and several areas to use as hides or view points for the waterholes that attract all the species that make Kalama so special. Your professional Samburu guides will take you on game drives into Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and West Gate Conservancy. In addition you will have opportunities to learn about the traditions and heritage of the semi-nomadic local Samburu people who live in this area.
Days 5/ 6/ 7 ~ Masaai Mara ~ Saruni Mara
After breakfast you will fly over the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara. You are sure to see wildlife as your plane lands.
The Masai Mara is Kenya’s most famous nature reserve, and one of the settings for the film Out of Africa. It is classic savannah – grasslands, where animals are plentiful and the vistas spectacular. The area, also known as the “Jewel of Africa,” has one of the largest and the most spectacular animal migrations in the world. The reserve, which covers an area of 700 square miles, forms part of the Serengeti ecosystem and hosts the world famous spectacle of the annual migration of up to two million wildebeest, thousands of zebra and an escort of carnivores from the Serengeti plains, following the rains and succulent new grass.
Saruni Mara is a deluxe safari lodge outside the famous Masai Mara National Reserve offering the thrill of a real African adventure coupled with the highest standards of style and comfort. It is set in a remote valley at the heart of the most exciting wilderness in Kenya. It also offers a large swimming pool with dramatic views over the Mara.
