Although it might not feel like it, the holidays are almost here! The December - January festive season is a popular time to travel to Africa and availability is already limited. If you are considering traveling this holiday season, we encourage you to act now. South Africa, especially Cape Town, is in particularly high demand, while Botswana and Kenya offer more choice. Here are a few places that we know still have availability between December 20th and January 2nd, but availability changes daily and time is definitely running out!
If you want to have your pick of great properties this holiday season, Kenya is the place for you.
Richard's River Camp
Richard's River Camp is one of our favorite properties in the Masai Mara. Their family tents are the perfect place to spend the holidays.
Kicheche Mara and Kicheche Laikipia
Naibosho Camp is another great property in a private conservancy bordering the Masai Mara with holiday availability.
Chobe Game Lodge
Camp Okuti in the Moremi Reserve in Botswana still have both double and family tents available over the holidays.
Stanley's Camp is not available on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day but has space from the 27th through the New Year. But given the amazing elephant experience that you can have here, those rooms aren't likely to last!
Serengeti Migration Camp
Serengeti Bushtops is an absolutely stunning property in the Serengeti with availability between December 20th and January 2nd. Its sister property in the Mara, Mara Bushtops, also has space during this time and both are offering a stay 4 pay 3. If you combine the two and spend 5 nights, you only pay for 4!
Luangwa Safari House
Want a private house for the whole family for the holidays? Look no further than Luangwa Safari House in South Luangwa National Park, which (at the moment) is available from December 20th through the 26th.
Simbambili in the Sabi Sands offers great value for money and is a firm favorite of ours. Looks like the prefect place for Christmas dinner!
Cape Town is packed during the holiday season and availabilty can be a real challenge. Cellars-Hohenort in the historic winelands of the Constantia Valley just outside Cape Town is one of the few places with remaining space but it isn't likely to last long!
If you want to travel next year and have your pick of places to stay for the 2016 holidays, start planning now!
