Travelling to Southern Africa? Add a Two-Day Photo Safari in Botswana to your Trip.
Want to make sure you have amazing photos of your safari? Add a two day Photo Safari with Pangolin in Chobe National Park, Botswana and learn how to take incredible photos of animals.
Pangolin Photo Safaris is company based in Kasane, Botswana and which operates Chobe National Park. Their team consists of expert photographers who are available throughout activities to train clients in the use of cameras and teach them how to take the perfect picture. They have custom built boats and vehicles with eight photographic seats on each. For those clients who are new to photographic safaris they supply state of the art digital SLR cameras with large zoom lenses - one camera for every seat!
The following 2 night package is an easy addition to any Southern Africa itinerary.
You will be collected from your hotel in Kasane at 3-3.30 (depending on season) for an afternoon of photography on the Pangolin Photo Boat. The activity lasts for a minimum of three hours and the client is taught about the camera and instructed on its basic functions (focusing, zooming, reviewing, editing etc). Local beers and soft drinks will be served as you move from sighting to sighting. As the you become more comfortable with the camera we will show you a few basic techniques to enhance their photography. This time of the day is beautiful for photographing from the river as the sun is setting behind us over sedudu island illuminating the animals as they come to the river to quench their thirst. The client will be returned to the collection point after sunset and their images will be burned on to a dvd which will be handed to them when they are collected for the second activity.
Morning: The best light in the morning is at sunrise so we collect the clients at around 6-6.30. With the sun rising over kasane the lighting is perfect for shots of hippos, crocs and the mammals and birds that reside on Sedudu island. Our boat is fitted with an electric sneaker motor which allows us to creep up on our subject silently causing the minimum amount of interference to their natural behavior. Following on from the previous teachings we explain the basics of picture composition to the clients such as the Rule of Thirds and controlled focal positioning. By the end of this activity which is again 3 hours long the client will be taking some truly memorable shots which will be burned on to a second DVD and delivered to them when they arrive for their third activity in the afternoon.
Afternoon: At 3-3.30 To get the most out of a photo safari you have to spend some time looking for the predators which rarely venture down to the river. On this drive you will enter Chobe park by vehicle and instead of simply taking a portrait photograph of the subjects you will learn to compose an image that gives a real sense of what the animal was doing at the time rather than simply capturing the animals likeness. Once again the pictures are burned on to a dvd which will be available for collection before departure on day three.
